Style Revel

Mississippi fashionistas rejoice! A new boutique has opened in Starkville and we couldn't be more excited about it. Formerly an online boutique, Style Revel now has a storefront on Main Street. We got a chance to catch up with the owner, Letty Stricklin, to talk about her new venture into the Starkville shopping scene.

Why did you decide to open a store front for Style Revel?
It's always been my dream to open a store and the building just kind of fell into our laps so I felt like it was the right time to do it.

Who is the Style Revel girl?
I would say the Style Revel girl is very trendy so she doesn't like to spend alot of money on each piece. We always make sure we have clothing to fit a wide variety of personalities and styles, all at a really good price point.

Where do you find the vintage items you sell?
I go on "digging trips" with my mom to the coast and back and we go to antique stores, flea markets, and estate sales, places like that.

How did you decide on the name Style Revel?
Our initial idea for the whole website was that we would have a different fashion blogger each month who would host a "style party" on the site and create a collection for our customers. Revel means party or merriment so I wanted the name to reflect our whole business idea.

Even the shopping bags are cute! We are obsessed. Thank you, Letty, for lending us your time to learn more about opening a store, a dream that many of we fashion students have as well. You are an inspiration. Everyone go check out the store; you will never want to leave!

2013 Cotton for a New Age- Part III

A Class Project

Students in Charles Freeman's merchandising and promotion strategies class were responsible for planning everything related to the fashion show. The students chose a futuristic theme related to fashion, so they came up with the name of "The New Age Traveler." Students broke off into groups for specific tasks for the show. There was a marketing team, public relations team, etc.

Show Time

After all of their hard work, it was finally show time! The New Age Traveler show was held on December 3, 2013. Design and merchandising students showed off their amazing projects for faculty, staff, students, and locals in the community. All photo credit goes to Blake McCollum Photography.
Students created the programs for the show, which included advertisements from their sponsors around town. Many local stores and boutiques offered coupons and freebies for the gift bags.

The decorations and food were even "cotton inspired."

The show was an amazing success! A large crowd came to the show to support all of the ATM students. Mississippi State University would like to thank Cotton Incorporated, The Cotton Board, MSU Extension Services, and Jordan Planting Company for all of their support to make this show possible. ATM students hope to participate in other cotton related projects in the near future.

Projects On Display

All of the projects were on display in the Colvard Student Union on Mississippi State's campus from February 3rd-14th, 2014. It was exciting to see the whole cotton project come full circle and be recognized by all MSU faculty, staff, students, and visitors. MSU again sends its thanks to everyone who made this whole process possible!
