Calling all Karlie

Following lunch in the jcp cafeteria, we went to the offices of Karlie Clothing, owned by Charlie and Karen Brown. MSU students frequently work for the Karlie showrooms in Atlanta and Dallas, and seeing their warehouse and offices was awesome. Karen talked about how their business was started from an independent vendor rep to a multi million dollar wholesaler, how a wholesale retailer interacts with the business, and (of course) took our questions. We toured the facilities at Karlie (which were considerably smaller than jcpenny) and met some of the employees of the family business, including Karlie (the daughter of Charlie and Karen) herself! An MSU alumni, Lorin Castell, has just been hired on at Karlie, and was happy to greet us. A great industry partner for MSU, Karlie is always willing to interview our best to gain experience working at either Atlanta or Dallas Market weeks. Check with Dr. Cheek about their next opportunity! As always you can visit Karlie on the web at www.karlieclothes.com or shop the local boutiques for their newest spring. From our private showing, we can tell you these clothes will be flying off the racks in Starkville #thisseasonsmusthave. At the end of our visit, Lorin and Karen gave each of us a goodie bag with a Karlie tee and treats. So sweet!

Lorin Kay hard at work!
